terminal 80, LAX- there are a lot of black girls
working at this place, and they're doing it in
all
their african american glory! there are so many
that they have that "confident in a group"
mentality- im digging on the attention and i
digs
how they aint afraiid to look a brother back
in
the face. though i can see a slight "nervousness"
when i look back "through" them, my girls will
not break the eye contact unless its in a smooth
"im just chilling" kinda way..i love the airport,
the LAX system- ground transportation:
security parking, 10 minutes from house for
$1 a day, shuttle from van-nuys to LAX is
$6 round trip, took 33 pix on the ride down. |
flight delayed due to sfo weather from 3:21p
to 3:52 time to walk and see what i can see...

laptop battery died so plugged into a wall outlet
to download pics cause the camera was full...
waiting for bag to come down...carousel is
spinning- everybody standing around...
nice big airy airport, big huge spaces...

i'm not usually the one to intiate the conversation,
but i know i make myself very approachable-
people feel comfortable talking to me and i
digs that...i was talking to these
guys on the elevator on the way to get my car
for like 3 minutes before i realized we weren't
moving...later still on my way to car a sista
talking that steeler stuff "go pittsburgh, go
pittsburgh" so i started doin a little dance,
we
laughed and i kept going ...she caught up to
me and gave me a hug...(yes, she was cute)...
that got my energy way up- |

hertz guy talked me up form a 4 door compact
to a '99 trooper with 7k miles...as i pulled
out
of the airport, i looked east at jupiter and
saturn-
same as at home in LA, same as in laughlin last
week, same as they have been for millions of
years- driving the freeways up here is different,
folx just chill and dont try to fill the spaces.. |

just got to ricks crib, he greeted me outside
his
door playing the wireless bass he's pluckin on
now...funky funky live music...i keep asking
is
they recording...the band is getting funky. rick
said he can record now...but is he? they are
jammin!!!. sweet thing by chaka kahn...

im technically awake...damn did we jam last night!!!!
the vibe was tangible and we got it on
tape!! listened to the tape last night around
2:30am as we rode to jack-in-the box...rick
drove the trooper-(spicy chicken, bacon
ultimate cheeseburger and two supersized fries
before bed...diet coke)...more than one person
said last night they "went away" during the
jam...it was spiritual, i took pics and danced
and vibed and danced...it was like my own
private concert- i kept saying for $113 round
trip, i would definitely do this again- good
positive vibe, the band was constatntly
complimenting each other, positive fun spirit
throughout the room...damn i had a good time
last night- we jammed everybody out the door..
every musician played until they were packed
up of left and when the last dude left,
me, rick
and duece had our own groove going...rick on
bass, i was dancing and kept rhythm with finger
pops and duece (stl in da house) was flowing..
very spiritual musically... |
im on schedule for the muesuem, but in my
mind there is a sleep issue...the real gig is
tonight at 6:30 (church group getting funky)
and like always im budgeting my sleep and
am scared i'll run out...looks like it rained
last
night or sum'n...and i forgot to bring dressy
shoes...gotta stop by a payless and see if i
can
top the $9 deal i got thursday on on the tennis
shoes im wearing now...damn that felt really
really good last night- i can still feel it...the
vibe
was thick-and ofcourse i ask myself how much
did i "contribute" to the vibe....though i played
no instrument or sang a note, i know my spirit
was felt...ok, shower |
